Shaun Liew

Shaun Liew | Canada (Port Coquitlam)
BA Sport and Health

"My name is Shaun Liew, and I am from Port Coquitlam (about 30 minutes from Vancouver), Canada. I am a recent BA Sport and Health graduate with a First Class Honours degree from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The School of Sport, Health and Outdoor Education is a fantastic department with great lecturers and staff members who have helped me throughout my final year. The course has given me a vast amount of experience in the sport and education field through various modules such as Coaching Pedagogy, Education, Sports and Physical Education and Independent Research (Dissertation).

This experience has started a journey towards my post-graduate studies in the UK. I will be starting my Masters in Physical Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the fall. I am looking forward to making new experiences and see what the future holds while continuing my education in Wales."

Business Management (BA, HND, HNC)

1st Class honours

"Studying Business Management at UWTSD was a total life-changing experience for me.  With the professional support and mentoring of my professors, I further developed as a person and acquired new skills and qualifications.

My professors taught me how to question my thoughts, speak carefully, think critically, and act courageously. They were a constant source of motivation and with their professional guidance, they helped me to surpass myself and achieve to receive a scholarship as the best student of my Faculty.

As far as the future is concerned, I would like to continue studying, probably following a Master or a PhD, since, from my experience in UWTSD, there is nothing better than studying and meeting people that are willing to help you develop and progress as an individual."

Acting (BA)

Graduated with an upper class 2:1 degree

"I felt like the course offered me a lot of challenges as an international student coming into a new country, and joining an ensemble that had already been together for 2 years. The course abled me to break out of my shell and comfort zone, take risks, and make new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

The lecturers and students were more than welcoming in the acting course and I am so blessed to have met every single one of them. Aside from that, the cultural trips provided for international students were also a huge bonus. It allowed students to interact with others who were not in your course while exploring other beautiful parts of Wales.

The university also offers events in the students' unions which assists in increasing the interaction among students, and this really helps to keep you busy and meet new people while you're away from home. Spending the last year in wales and seeing the beautiful sights and meeting the wonderful people, makes me want to stay and continue my acting career in the UK.

This experience has opened my eyes and made me see that wales is my second home. Wales is my home away from home."

My Stay in Wales

"My semester in Wales was by far the best part of my university experience. Learning in a different country from my own opened my eyes not only to the arts but to a new perspective of seeing the world. “BA Acting at UWTSD is a really rigorous course and I’m learning so much so quickly.  It’s a lot of fun; very fast paced but I’m learning and growing and it’s far surpassing my expectations. The tutors are passionate and really care about what they’re talking about which makes me care about what I’m learning about.

It’s amazing, I love it! It’s so beautiful here.  I’ve been to Llansteffan, to St David’s Cathedral and to Whitesands and it’s been great to see new sights. Everyone’s lively and friendly and everyone talks to each other”
