UWTSD Student & Staff Wi-Fi Setup

All UWTSD students and staff can setup access to eduroam on their laptop, mobile phone or tablet.

If you know your UWTSD email address and password you don't need to be on campus to setup your connection either, you can setup your devices before arriving so you can get online as soon as you arrive on campus.

To set up your eduroam access quickly & easily follow these simple instructions...

Windows 10, 8/8.1, 7 & Vista

  • Download the installer for your operating system;
  • Run the installer
  • When prompted, enter your full UWTSD email address and password
    • Students example:
      • studentnumber@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
      • jbloggs.123456@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
    • Staff example:
      • j.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk
      • joe.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk

When you're on campus, search for wireless networks on your device, select eduroam and click connect.

Apple iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone & iPod;

  • Download the installer for your operating system;
    • Apple macOS
    • Apple iPad, iPhone & iPod - simply connect to eduroam and login using your UWTSD email address and password
  • Run the installer
  • When prompted, enter your full UWTSD email address and password
    • Students example:
      • studentnumber@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
      • jbloggs.123456@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
    • Staff example:
      • j.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk
      • joe.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk

When you're on campus, search for wireless networks on your device, select eduroam and click connect.

 

Android

If you ever change your UWTSD password, you will need to make sure you enter your new password on your device's wireless connection the next time you are on campus as you will not be prompted to do so on your device. Simply open wireless connections, select eduroam and edit your password.

 

When you're on campus, search for wireless networks on your device, select eduroam and click connect.

Chrome OS (Chromebook)

  • Download the Chrome OS (Chromebook) eduroam installer
  • Run the installer
  • Open the Chrome Browser and browse to chrome://net-internals/#chromeos
  • Use the 'Import ONC file' button (the import is silent, so you won't see anything happen)
  • When prompted, enter your full UWTSD email address and password
    • Students example:
      • studentnumber@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
      • jbloggs.123456@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
    • Staff example:
      • j.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk
      • joe.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk

When you're on campus, search for wireless networks on your device, select eduroam and click connect.

If your device isn't listed or you need to setup your device manually;

  • Connect to the wireless network (SSID): eduroam
  • In the Username field enter your full UWTSD email address
    • Students example:
      • studentnumber@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
      • jbloggs.123456@student.uwtsd.ac.uk
    • Staff example:
      • j.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk
      • joe.bloggs@uwtsd.ac.uk
  • In the Password field enter your UWTSD password

Guest Wireless

The UWTSD Guest wireless network is the primary wireless network for Guests of UWTSD.

Who can use this service?

Guests of University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

How can I connect to UWTSD Guest?

No prior information is needed by IT&S in order to access this service, it provides guests access to the internet for a period of 8 hours. If you require a longer period of connectivity, then please contact the IT Service Desk in person or call 0300 500 5055 for more information.

To connect, please follow these instructions:

  1. On your device under wireless network select "UWTSD Guest" (there is no security key required).
  2. Once connected, you will be re-directed to a registration page and prompted to input your Name, Email address, and Reason for access.
  3. Once these details have been completed and the terms of use have been accepted, you will be able to access the internet.
