The aim of this session is to introduce students to the library databases. It will explain the benefits of using databases over search engines such as Google and how to select, search and access the databases relevant to their discipline.
By the end of the session the student will be able to:
- Understand the benefits and pitfalls of using the internet and learn how to identify quality websites.
- Locate the relevant database for their discipline and discover relevant resources in a topic area.
- Recognise the functionality of databases in filtering, saving and exporting results.
- Understand how to create a search strategy.
