Useful Shelf Marks
The book stock at the Griffith Library is housed on level G, and is arranged into subject areas using shelfmarks from 000-999 (using the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme). The following are useful shelfmarks for Art & Design, but to locate specific material please use the library catalogue.
|701.17||Aesthetics of art|
|701.18||Art criticism & appreciation|
|741.6||Graphic design & illustration|
We subscribe to approximately seventy current journals (in paper format) at the Griffith library, which cover all subject areas taught within Art & Design, plus Stained Glass. They can be found on display in an a-z sequence on level 1, and back issues are housed on level G (again in an a-z sequence). Please note that all our journals are for ‘reference only’ within the library.
In addition, students and staff have access to an even wider range of Art & Design journals electronically, both on and off campus through the ‘eJournal Quick Search’ link on the library website, and also via the ‘Databases’ link. It is via ‘Databases’ that you can access ‘Art Source’, which provides indexing with selected full-text to highly respected art journals from around the world.
Please contact the librarian at the Griffith Library if you need help in accessing any of the Art & Design electronic resources.
The reference section can be found on level G at the Griffith library, and in addition to general reference materials such as dictionaries, you will find resources specific to Art & Design.
