Useful shelf marks

Material in the library is organized into subject areas. Each of these areas is numbered according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Subject headings together with the Dewey numbers appear on the end of the library shelves and the shelf marks are located on the spines of the books.

Current Psychology and Counselling journals can be found on the first floor of Townhill Library, in the Journal Room. Recent copies are stored behind the current issue and can be accessed by lifting the front shelf. Older copies are kept in the Journal Stack Room on the ground floor of Townhill Library. These journals are arranged alphabetically according to their title. 

All journals are for reference use only.

Even more Psychology and Counselling journals are available electronically. You can access these directly via the ‘e-Journal portal’ and also via the ‘Databases A-Z’.  Useful full text databases are: PsycARTICLES which contains full text articles from psychology journals and Science Direct

Reference Material

The reference section is on the ground floor of the Townhill Library.

Useful online reference sources include databases such as Newsbank and Oxford Reference Online, which you can access through the 'Databases' link.
