Kier Construction (Kier),  recently won the £26million contract to deliver the project, and is looking for local sub-contractors and suppliers to assist with the build. The Kier team held a Meet the Buyer event in SA1’s Technium 2 to consult with local firms and due to its overwhelming success they are looking to run a further event.

A total of 50 local firms expressed an interest in attending the event, with those attending including Shufflebottom Ltd, Swansea Timber and Plywood Co Ltd, Artisan Flooring Ltd and Ash and Lacy Building Systems.

UWTSD’s Swansea Waterfront Innovation Quarter Project Director Ray Selby said: “Kier has shown a commitment to working with local sub-contractors and suppliers from the outset and it is one of the key reasons that the University appointed them for the delivery of this landmark project. It can be difficult for local businesses to get involved in large scale projects like this so we are delighted that so many companies will get the opportunity to work with us on the delivery of the Swansea Waterfront Innovation Quarter.
