UWTSD Performing Arts graduate launches a new creative networking group

University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) Performing Arts graduate Derek Palmer has launched a new creative networking group called ‘The Creative Collective’. The aim of the group is to bring together students and graduates who are either currently working in, or seeking work in, the world of creative arts. By encouraging networking it is hoped that participants will collaborate and produce multi-media work that will be seen by a wider audience.

The first event took place in the Creative Bubble shop in Swansea and initial response was very positive. Derek Palmer said “It was great to see people coming together, chatting, connecting, and discussing their upcoming projects. One person's project attracted several people to help out, which is exactly what I want the outcome of these nights to be. We're now aiming to get monthly networking meet-ups organised as soon as we can, as well as workshops and performances. I am very excited to keep this moving forward and see it become a regular part of the Swansea creative scene.”

Lucy Beddall who manages the Creative Bubble project for UWTSD and Swansea BID said, “We were thrilled that we can offer support to this brand new creative networking group. It’s an opportunity for our graduates to mix with current students and share skills and ideas. UWTSD encourages students to think entrepreneurially about their studies and this is a great example of students and graduates being proactive and creating new and exciting work together.”

Creative Bubble is a UWTSD and Swansea BID project that facilitates a network of students, graduates and organisations to create new and exciting events in Swansea City Centre.
