UWTSD’s Advice for Clearing Applicants

Don’t panic! Life doesn’t always go according to plan and that’s why Clearing was invented!

As UWTSD prepares for a busy period of applications, the University has offered advice to students who may find themselves in the Clearing process on Thursday.

“As A Level results day approaches, make sure that you’re prepared,” said Melanie Jones, Executive Schools and Colleges Marketing Officer at UWTSD.

“Make sure you have your UCAS track login details to hand; check that the contact details you have given are correct and on the day, make sure you have access to a phone.”

“On Thursday, the first thing you’ll need to do is to check your status on UCAS Track.  If you’re eligible for clearing, ‘Add Clearing Choice’ will appear on your profile page along with your clearing number.  You’ll need to make a note of your clearing number as you’ll need it when you call us.

“If you are in clearing, you’ll need to find a course you’d like to apply for – you can do this by searching on any university’s website or you can call the university direct,” added Melanie.

At UWTSD, those who are interested in finding out more about the range of courses on offer can call the clearing hotline on 0300 323 1828 to speak to the registry team.  Lines are open from 8am to 8pm on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of August with staff on hand throughout the weekend (and across all social media platforms) as well as the following week to speak to you about your choices.  In most cases, they’ll also be able to make an ‘on the spot’ decision on whether the University can offer you a place.

“At UWTSD, if you’re made an offer of a place on the phone, we’ll send you an email confirming the details and giving a deadline for you to make a decision,” said Melanie.

“To accept our offer you will need to log in to UCAS Track and enter the details as a clearing choice on your profile by the deadline we gave you.  Once we have processed your application and confirmed that you have met any conditions we will then confirm your place and it will appear in your track profile as Unconditional.”

If you haven’t applied to any Universities yet but are interested in starting your studies this September, it’s still not too late to apply.  You can also call the UWTSD Clearing hotline (0300 323 1828) to discuss course options and to find out whether the University is able to offer you a place.

To find out more about UWTSD and the huge range of programmes on offer, the University will be holding open days at all of its three campuses – Carmarthen, Lampeter and Swansea - on Saturday 19th August.  To book a place, go to
