UWTSD appoints Professor Wendy Dearing as new Head of the Institute of Management and Health

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Wendy Dearing as the new Head of the Institute of Management and Health.

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Wendy Dearing as the new Head of the Institute of Management and Health.

Professor Dearing is currently Head of Workforce & Organisational Development for the NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) a position she has held for eight years.  She was instrumental in developing the Wales Institute of Digital Information (WIDI) a strategic partnership between NWIS and UWTSD.

As co-lead for WIDI she created and implemented the Health Informatics Apprenticeships qualifications that includes level 3, 4 and ICT degree apprenticeships as well as creating opportunities for NWIS staff to undertake CPD via the University linking industry and academia. She has played a key role within the Welsh Government in developing Health Informatics.

With a nursing background, she holds an MSc in Change & Innovation and was elected as a Professor of Practice by UWTSD in recognition of her expertise and knowledge in championing innovation within the health & care sector. Her role within NWIS includes workforce strategy; workforce planning; recruitment and retention; professional recognition and registration; education and training; career pathways & CPD.

Professor Dearing is Chair of BCS Wales Health and Vice Chair for Professionalism on the UK wide BCS Health & Care Executive Board and is a board member of Fed-IP. and has a passion for developing "the next generation" of health and care managers.

Prior to moving to Wales, she was Director of Corporate Services Sussex Health Informatics service (Sussex HIS) and held various roles with the acute hospitals of Sussex within learning & development. She was also an elected Governor City College Brighton and Hove Further Education College holding the leadership, OD & ICT remits.
