UWTSD’s Lampeter branch of the Royal Institute of Philosophy has announced its 2020-21 lecture series programme.

UWTSD’s Lampeter branch of the Royal Institute of Philosophy has announced its 2020-21 lecture series programme.

Open to the general public, the Lampeter Royal Institute of Philosophy Lecture Series is a series of public lectures focused on new, expansive and cutting-edge philosophy research.  The first talk will be by Dr Anneli Jefferson from Cardiff University on 3 November 2020, where she’ll be focusing on the question, ‘Can psychiatric diagnosis undermine agency?’

Dr Rebekah Humphreys, a Philosophy lecturer at UWTSD and organiser of the Lampeter Royal Institute of Philosophy lecture series, said:

“We’re delighted to be hosting such a variety of lectures and talks, drawing prominent and creative philosophical thinkers from across the UK.  We have an excellent line-up once again which we’re very much looking forward to here at the Lampeter branch of the Royal Institute of Philosophy.

Our first talk will be hosted by Dr Anneli Jefferson from Cardiff University which promises to be a fascinating discussion.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring students, staff and the community together – so please come along, everybody is welcome to attend.”

UWTSD’s Lampeter campus branch is an accredited branch of the Royal Institute of Philosophy, a charity whose origins date back to the 1920s.  The Institute is dedicated to the advancement of philosophy in all its forms, in order to access the widest possible audience, not just academics and students of philosophy.

Note to Editor

All events are free and open to the public as well as UWTSD students, alumni and staff, and anybody with an interest in this field are encouraged to join the discussions.

All talks are held on Tuesday evenings between 6pm and 7.30pm. During the first semester each session will take place via Zoom and will, as usual, be followed by a Q & A session where there will be an opportunity to ask questions and have a further discussion.
