Students at University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) opened their annual summer degree show on the evening of Friday 19th May in a packed event across multiple Swansea venues.

The annual summer exhibition is a highlight of the Swansea College of Art calendar, where students from all creative courses display their final projects – the culmination of years of learning and refining their crafts.

The evening was buzzing with activity and attracted hundreds of attendees across the venues, with musical performances and a DJ at the HQ Urban Kitchen alongside the visual art shows.

An awards ceremony was held in UWTSD’s Dynevor Building, where outstanding students were given prizes ranging from £200 up to £10,000 for the prestigious Artist Benevolent Scholarship.

Professor Ian Walsh, Provost of UWTSD’s Swansea Campus said: “UWTSD was delighted to open to the public on Friday and welcome so many visitors to the exhibitions of this year’s graduating students from Swansea College of Art. It was a fantastic evening with some incredible art on display.

“As one of the UK’s leading centres for art, design and media,UWTSD is proud of the success of its students and the standards they achieve. The importance of the artist, the designer, the film maker, and the creative mind in interpreting our times and telling important stories is vital in these challenging times.”

Caroline Thraves, Academic Director at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art said: “The Graduate Show is a celebration and culmination of students’ undergraduate and postgraduate study, where visitors can experience wonderful creativity across a wide variety of art and design subject areas.

“Art colleges change the world – our students, whose work you will see when you visit the show, will go on to change the world”.
