UWTSD Graduate Secures Junior Designer Position

A University of Wales Trinity Saint David graduate has secured a job as a junior designer. Dominic Wint graduated this year from BA Advertising and Brand Design at UWTSD Swansea. Dominic has gained the position of Junior Designer at My 1st Years, a gift shop specialising in in personalised baby gifts.

Dominic said:

“I found my time at UWTSD fun, challenging, hilarious and overall very enjoyable. It certainly went too fast. I enjoyed the conceptual elements of the course. Our end of year exhibition really prepared me for the real world - as we had to organise the entire thing as students on our own.

“The new job involves a lot of aspects from the course - idea generation, working in a team, knowing the target audience and so on, the job will also bring a lot of new challenges I’m sure. I think the fact that I studied advertising and brand design, a course which covers a wide range of creative areas, gave me an advantage over other applicants. I loved studying in Swansea.”

The BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Design is all about studying to become a professional creative. The projects encompass all kinds of media, from magazine to social media, radio to TV and from billboards to public events.

The course is also about communication for business and enterprise. It liaises with businesses and looks at real problems to solve from the very outset. The ‘hands on’ projects include design for branding, creative art direction (working with photographers and video students among others), ‘pitching’ concepts and ideas, marketing strategies and leading innovative new campaigns.
