UWTSD Tops UK Global Entrepreneurship Week Activities List

For the second year in a row the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has topped the UK list of University activities during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which runs from 16-22 November.

Kathryn Penaluna, Enterprise Manager at UWTSD, said: “Entrepreneurship Week is a real opportunity for us to celebrate what we do here as an integral part of our mission. We are a connected University in every sense when it comes to be being enterprising; we connect with our learners, we connect with businesses and we connect with policy makers in a truly global way. The fact that we were the leading University in this table has as much to do with our day-to-day experience as it does with the celebrations in Global Entrepreneurship Week.”

In addition to topping the GEW activities list, the United Nations’ Chief of Entrepreneurship, Fiorina Mugione, has described UWTSD as a “pioneer” in entrepreneurship education during a video message to the University’s students.

GEW is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship and plays a critical role in encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to consider starting up their own business.

The year’s GEW is aimed at inspiring people through local, national and global activities to explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connected participants to potential collaborators, mentors and innovators. In the UK the GEW campaign is hosted each year by Youth Business International, a global network dedicated to helping young entrepreneurs get started in business.

UWTSD is hosting events across its three campuses in Swansea, Carmarthen and Lampeter. For more information, visit
