To respond to the well-being agenda, it is essential to acknowledge the complexity of both the societal and political landscape.
To this end, the researchers in this centre explore well-being through a social justice lens, which promotes equitable and sustainable societies and communities. Such research gives a robust foundation to theory and policy underpinning best practice.
Practice-facing research partnerships and local and international, have an impact in both contexts; for example, research undertaken with Harvard University PEARS institute in a bilingual secondary school in Wales was used to underpin the school’s programme of well-being and resilience with pupils.)
Within this centre there are four main themes:
- Social Justice, Rights and Empowerment
- Sustainable Communities
- Equity through Education
