The PRISM (Practical Research in Information Systems and Management) group is a cross-faculty collaborative initiative. PRISM focuses on research relating to information systems, their development and use in organisations and the management implications of their use in industry specific contexts.
Recent and current PRISM research projects include:
- The generation of a new classification scheme for the end-users of computerised information systems (with particular reference to spreadsheets) and the creation of a set of applications that automate the classification process.
- Social networks in education, using ubiquitous, free platforms and web services. Particular focus is given to end-user created and customised social networks, with two key tracks:
- The identification of a suitable methodology for end user development of social networks.
- The creation of a model for the management of end user developed social networks.
- Computer and internet ethics, examined in a variety of contexts, including online dating and cross border online pharmaceuticals, and the ethical risks to end users.
The results of this research have been presented at a range of conferences, published in conference proceedings and as chapters in books. The research underpins modules taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
