We are committed to working with schools and colleges to offer a range of presentations and interactive workshops.

Our activities are designed to inform and guide students through the application process and transition into Higher Education.  We also support teachers and careers advisors as you guide students through the process.

All presentations and workshops are free of charge and can be tailored to suit specific requirements. We can offer a combination of topics at a date and time that suits you. All presentations and workshops are available in English, Welsh or bilingually. Please specify on booking.

UWTSD is an active member of the Higher Education Liaison Officers Association (HELOA). This ensures that the information and service we provide is of an informed, impartial and professional standard.

This is a guide to all things finance to ensure students have a clear understanding of how to manage their finances on the lead up to starting University as well as budgeting and financial management during their studies. This workshop will include presentations on loans, bursaries and scholarships, and interactive tasks on budgeting to ensure students learn to manage their money while enjoying University life.

From where to start searching to making an informed decision on what to choose to study at university. The session aims to prepare students on making what can be a difficult but a very important choice.  The session will explore all aspects of University life with practical tips on what to look for at open days.

This is an interactive session. Packed with games and tasks, it will take students through what to expect at university. UWTSD Students Ambassadors will give an insight into what university life is really like and give advice on adjusting to life at university, meeting new people and managing financially. The purpose of the session is to make the transition easier and clear for students thinking of going to university.

This workshop will guide students through the UCAS application process and provide them with the tools needed to assist them as they start they journey to higher education. They will leave with the knowledge of the Who? What? Why and When? Including a jargon busting sessions of all key UCAS and higher education terms. All they need to ensure the application process and next step to higher education is a breeze.

This workshop provides students with tips and guidance on writing that all important personal statement.  This session will help individuals to start planning and drafting their personal statements.   As well as the dos and don'ts we will provide advice on what admissions tutors are look for.

UWTSD has developed dramatically over the past few years and with us still being a relatively new university, this presentation acts as an introduction to the campuses, courses, facilities and extracurricular activities offered at the university. With videos and testimonies from current students and graduates, we hope to emphasise what a welcome and friendly community environment UWTSD offers and how students can stand out as an individual rather than a number. This presentation outlines our journey to date and direction for the future.

The teaching staff from our Education Studies programmes have designed this interactive workshop to offer a glimpse into what academic life at a higher level is like. From lectures, timetables, exploring new skills, and the support available to students, by the end of this session, students will know what to expect from studying at Sixth Form or University.

The Covid19 pandemic forced us all to adopt new methods of digital communication, but as we spend more and more time behind our digital devices, are we forgetting our manners? This fun workshop provides tips on how we can be more mindful of how we act online, whether that's in online learning, meetings and interviews, or on social media.
