Dr Adila Khan is an experienced lecturer with both academic and practical entrepreneurial, management and marketing experience.
She started her academic career as a lecturer at the University of Wales, Trinity St David (2012-2014), then at Bath Spa University (2014-2018) followed by Birmingham City University (2018-2022) teaching Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, she was the Course Director for the MSc Management programme, which was one of the largest postgraduate courses at Birmingham City Business School (BCBS) with a number of pathways with both on-campus and online provision.
She is also a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), which is awarded in recognition of best teaching practices. Her teaching strategies are student-focused and reflective in practice for an enhanced student learning experience.
She has a PhD (Entrepreneurship, 2020), PGCE, MBA, MA in English Literature, and a BA in Psychology and English Literature. The areas of her interest are Entrepreneurship and Marketing, especially International Marketing in the education sector.
Throughout her career she has been involved with international marketing and internationalisation in the education sector. In the past, she has worked as the International Marketing Manager at a Pembrokeshire College, Wales (1999-2005). In her most recent role as an Assistant Professor, Director of International Recruitment and Development (2019-2021), she provided leadership for internationalisation, recruitment and partnership development for BCBS.
Adila’s passion for entrepreneurship is evident from the fact that she established her first business at the age of 19, followed by a series of entrepreneurial ventures. In 2005, she was the founder and CEO of an international education consultancy and training company, which operated for more than twelve years, across seven countries with offices in UK, China, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
