Fiona Mitchell

I teach Latin and Greek at a variety of levels. I also lecture on ancient literature (Reading Antiquity) and iconography (Classical Mythology and Art).

Before arriving at UWTSD I completed my PhD at the University of Bristol. My doctoral research examined the roles of monstrosity in ancient Greek cosmogony, ethnography and biology.

My research focuses on ancient Greek literature and myth, and their interaction with other cultures in the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. I am developing a project on the interactions between ancient Greek creation narratives and those found in ancient Indian sources.
