I teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate (MBA and CIM) modules in Marketing and related topics for Business and LETS (Leisure, Events, Tourism & Sport).
As Programme Director for the Undergraduate Business portfolio of programmes, I am responsible for managing and coordinating delivery and assessment of 9 degree programmes, and am also Partnership Team Leader for IBAT College Dublin, and their MBA Programme validated by UWTSD.
Prior to developing my academic career, I had over 20 years’ experience of all areas of marketing and customer experience for a variety of organisations. These include The National Trust, Cadw:Welsh Historic Monuments, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (as PR Manager) and National Museum Wales, where I was Head of Marketing for 5 years. This latter role involved the management of marketing activities at 8 National Museum sites across Wales as well as contributing to HLF and other grant bids.

I have experience of teaching on a range of marketing-related topics, that has included undergraduate modules from L4-L6 such as: Marketing Essentials , International Marketing; Impact & Development of Festivals & Events, Hanfodion Marchnata. Postgraduate (MBA) modules: Marketing Management; Global Marketing: Consumer Behaviour; Emerging Themes (for the CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing). I am an undergraduate and MBA dissertation supervisor, and a member of a team of supervisors for MPhil and PhD research students.
Currently in the writing up stage of a PhD – ‘If you build it, will they come: the relevance of marketing process theory to visitor attraction micro businesses and sme’s’. UWTSD (submission: Sept 2014).
An experienced academic involved in the development, validation and delivery of a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Previous posts have included undergraduate and MBA Admissions Tutor for Lampeter University and MBA Marketing Pathway Leader.
Professional expertise covers all aspects of the marketing, management and development of tourism and heritage related businesses and organisations.
Regular contributor to Welsh medium media interviews (radio and television) for marketing and tourism issues.
Huw has contributed to a wide range of consultancy and business reports both in recent years and when he was a self-employed consultant from 2000-2003. These have included feasibility studies and marketing plans for visitor attractions and other tourism businesses.
Since 2008 he has contributed to the delivery of EU funded projects within the university such as CIME and Coracle.
