I am currently a lecturer within the civil, construction and built environment subjects at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, UK. I am involved in students' teaching and academic support through the delivery of modules and students’ supervision, developing high-profile research and enterprise relationships.

I hold a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK; an MSc in Structural Engineering with Management; a B-Tech in Civil Engineering and a National Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Before joining academia, I worked as a Project and Design Engineer in both consulting and construction industry for about five years.

Through this, I have extensive experience in engineering project design and management, structural retrofit, and environmental sustainability design. I also have proven track records in research and development by undertaking collaborative simulation projects in engineering and the built environment.

Research Supervision: I am very keen to supervise and support research students in these areas or closely related:

  • Building Resilience in Construction

My primary research interests are in developing low-embodied carbon designs for new infrastructures and retrofit of old infrastructures, sustainable design, and construction.

I have expertise in experimental structural engineering, especially in the testing of large-scale structures. I also have research capability in numerical modelling and simulations in the broad areas of structural analysis, low carbon design, design optimisation, and digital construction.

My professional expertise is in enhancing the sustainability and resilience of civil engineering infrastructures. Therefore, most of my research activities are blue skies and concentrated on applied research which promotes low-embodied carbon designs for new infrastructures and retrofit of old infrastructures. I have expertise in the following areas:

  • Inspection, appraisal, and conditional assessment of masonry structures
  • Advanced experimental testing and numerical modelling of structures.
  • Maintenance, repair and retrofit of historical construction.
  • Offsite construction and prefabrication.
  • Optimization and digital fabrication.
  • Sustainable constructions and retrofit of current built environments.
  • Developing frameworks for enhanced resilience in construction.
  • Health & safety in construction.
  • Post Covid-19 recovery of the residential construction sector.

Through research and development consultancy, I carried out real-life numerical simulation projects on Procter & Gamble's products and processes, providing meaningful results and reducing their production cost.
