Lecturer in International Hotel Management.

Qualifying as a Nurse in 1985, I quickly gained post registration qualifications within several specialities to support my role within emergency medicine and Trauma (Orthopaedic & Trauma Dip. Burns & Plastic Surgery Dip. Intensive Care Dip. I worked across 4 different trauma centres in London including ground staff & air based on the first helicopter emergency medicine response (HEMS) unit at the Royal London, Whitechapel. After completing via blended distance learning & block attendance, I completed a B.Sc (Hons) in Orthopaedic and rehabilitation engineering technology at Dundee University, I was commissioned to the rank of Captain within the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Service, and was posted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich and also to Kuwait during the 1st Gulf War (receiving station- field post).

After returning to the NHS, I worked as Emergency Nurse lead practitioner within the Cardiff & Vale Groups of Hospitals and completed a Cert. Ed and Research Diploma. With a colleague I developed the all Wales Trauma teaching module for the Welsh National Board, and taught on this and as was external examiner for the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, who also taught the module (for the English National Board).

My last post within the NHS in 2000 was as Directorate manager for Trauma & Emergency Medicine at University Hospital of Wales. By this time I had also completed via a part time study a M.Sc in Acute care with a management component and a Ph.D (Traumatic Knee injuries- force = outcome).

Since leaving the NHS I have gained further management experience as:

  • Senior service Manager- The Leonard Cheshire Foundation
  • Inspector for CSSIW and HIW- Welsh Assembly Government
  • Healthcare management Consultant- NewLaw Solicitors Cardiff

And as an Independent Business consultant not only within Health care but also within Hospitality with a special interest within marketing and brand development, and the development of training programs for staff groups in line with differing company policies and the needs of the business. To enhance my consultancy ability I also competed a level 5 qualification in TEFL/TESOL.Over the past 20 years I have developed skills within consultancy, training and smart working options for a variety of organisations. Including working with French vignerons (particularly within the Champagne region). Helping them develop oenotourism options and marketing, as well as brand development and promotion. This has included the teaching of English and review/design/development of customer information collateral

Recommended by Neath Port Talbot Licensing Department as a consultant to the licensed trade and hospitality industry especially with regard to new start- ups and refurbishment, rebranding projects.

With my husband I also developed two French gastronomy and wine restaurants in the UK and also a champagne tasting venue in Epernay, Grand Est. During this period my commercial expertise developed greatly founded on those skills learnt within the NHS and then within the Independent sector.

I currently am a Director of Clos & Cru Ltd. A champagne tour and experience company, which also provides marketing solutions for Independent vignerons, and Importers looking to develop a brand within the UK.

With my husband, I also developed two French gastronomy and wine restaurants in the UK and also a champagne tasting venue in Epernay, Grand Est. During this period my commercial expertise developed greatly founded on those skills learnt within the NHS and then within the Independent sector.
