Role in the University

I work with the Principal Investigator, Prof Gary Bunt and the Digital Islam in Britain research project team to map and analyse the ways in which diverse Muslim communities in the UK utilise digital spaces.

Background

My teaching experience includes designing and delivering various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and modules such as: Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, Theory and Method in the Study of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, Islamic Theology, the Sociology of Muslim Communities in Britain, Youth Studies, Leadership, Community Development  at

My academic background is in the Social Sciences, Religious Studies and Islamic Studies.

Research Interests

My research interests include British Muslims, Islam in Europe and America.

Expertise

I have a specialisation in the study of Muslim young people, Islamic activism, religious radicalisation, inter-faith relations, religion and public policy.

Enterprise, Commercial and Consultancy Activities

I have provided consultation to various public and private sector agencies including BBC and the Home Office.
