This eagerly anticipated book delves into the intricate dynamics of how Islam intersects with the digital realm, shedding light on the evolving landscape of Cyber Islamic Environments (CIEs) and their profound impact on societies, believers, and understandings of Islam.

In “Islamic Algorithms,” Professor Bunt offers a comprehensive exploration of how Islam is digitally mediated in an era marked by technological advancements, increased digital literacy, and proactive engagement in online Islamic content by both authorities and influencers. From discussions on jinn and angels to contemporary influencers, the book traverses through representations of significant historical and religious influences across diverse contexts.

Professor Gary R. Bunt, commented: ” We are at a significant phase in technological development, with implications across societies, including in Muslim contexts. ‘Islamic Algorithms: Online Influence in the Muslim Metaverse’ navigates the intricate and evolving interplay between faith and bytes, including concepts associated with the diverse digital representations of Islam and Muslims, and how artificial intelligence and search algorithms impact on religious authority and engagement. “

Central to Professor Bunt’s examination is the inquiry into the ramifications of digital content on contemporary interpretations of Islam and their dissemination. By analysing the role of digital platforms, apps, and social networking sites as primary sources of information for many Muslims globally, the book underscores how new generations of digital influences shape the understanding of pivotal figures in Islam, including Muhammad and his family, scholars, and imams.
