Support UWTSD

You may describe your time here as some of the best years of your life, so why not make that a reality for others by giving something back to the University.

We believe that alumni are our greatest supporters and ambassadors. Your contribution is invaluable in helping us provide the greatest possible experiences for our current and future leaners.

There are a number of ways you can support our current and future students.

We’d love to hear from you if you can offer any support.

Ways to Support

Contribute to the Graduate Outcomes Survey

By completing the Graduate Outcomes survey, new graduates can help us give current and future learners an insight into opportunities and possible career destinations based on what you report you’re up to 15 months after you finish your studies.  Your say in this survey can also help us evaluate and promote our courses.

Advertise Job Opportunities

Does your company have a vacancy to fill? Whether it’s ideal for a new graduate or you’re looking for someone more experienced, why not support fellow UWTSD alumni by sending us these job opportunities to post on our jobs board and UWTSD Alumni Network LinkedIn page.

We’d also love for you to meet our current students and alumni in person at careers and networking events that are held on our campuses. Why not come along to one of these to promote your company and share your expertise.

Offer Work Experience

You’ll know that our students will benefit from as much experience as possible when they leave university. If you are a business owner or in a position within your company to be able to offer work experience or internships and can offer experience relating to any of courses, we’d love to hear from you.

Make a Donation

A financial contribution to UWTSD, no matter how big or small, can enable students to make life changing decisions and progress in their studies.

Donations play a vital role in ensuring that our mission of ‘transforming education, transforming lives’ is underpinned through providing facilities, research, campus experiences and a channel of talent from undergraduate to leaders in industry, irrespective of financial circumstance, providing access to higher education for all.

Regular or single donations can go towards a number of funds and our donors are welcome to specify where they would like their contributions to go.

We are also open to your ideas so if you would like to discuss a fundraising project, get in touch

If you would like to make a donation specifically to our Lampeter campus, we have a number of funds that you are able to contribute to.  Every contribution - no matter how big or small - will have a lasting impact on the students of Lampeter, and those to come.

  • This fund supports a range of widening access projects that seek to give access to higher education to students from non-traditional backgrounds. This will include establishing regional support groups and workshops to provide students with an access route to studying at Lampeter.

  • This fund provides bursaries for new residential students from low-income backgrounds.

  • This fund supports initiatives that enhance the student experience on campus and contribute significantly to campus life, by providing financial support for excursions, field-trip costs, research trips and more.

  • When you make a Gift Aid donation, we can reclaim from HM Revenue & Customs the basic rate tax which you have already paid on your gift. This increases the value of your gift to us by 25%, at no extra cost to you.

If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can also claim the difference between the higher rate and basic rate tax on the total value of your gift to the University on your Self Assessment tax return.

  • Remembering Lampeter in Your Will

You may wish to leave a donation to the University in your will, with the sum being paid out of your estate on your death. The following are examples of typical clauses that could be used in a will, although you should note the important disclaimer at the foot of this page.

    1. Monetary Gift – a gift of a fixed sum of money for the general purposes of the University

“I give [the sum of £_______] to the Lampeter Alumni Office, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, College Street, Lampeter, Ceredigion, SA48 7ED (registered Charity Number 1149535).

It is my wish that it shall be applied for the benefit of said University wherever the University considers the funds could be best used at the time of receipt.  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice-Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors. “

    2. Specific Gift – a gift of specific item(s) for the general purposes of the University

“I give [insert details of specific item(s)] to the Lampeter Alumni Office, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, College Street, Lampeter, Ceredigion, SA48 7ED (registered Charity Number 1149535).

It is my wish that it shall be applied for the benefit of said University wherever the University considers the funds could be best used at the time of receipt.  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice- Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors.”

    3.  Residuary Gift – a gift of the whole of the residuary estate for the general purposes of the University

“I give all of my residuary estate to the Lampeter Alumni Office, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, College Street, Lampeter, Ceredigion, SA48 7ED (registered Charity Number 1149535).

It is my wish that it shall be applied for the benefit of said University wherever the University considers the funds could be best used at the time of receipt.  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice- Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors.”

    4. Residuary Gift of a percentage of the residuary estate for the general purposes of the University

“I give _____% of my residuary estate [before/after the deduction of Inheritance Tax, if any is payable – it is recommended that specialist legal advice is obtained in this regard] to the Lampeter Alumni Office, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, College Street, Lampeter, Ceredigion, SA48 7ED (registered Charity Number 1149535).

It is my wish that it shall be applied for the benefit of said University wherever the University considers the funds could be best used at the time of receipt.  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice- Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors.”

The above suggested clauses are where the gifts are to be used for the University’s general purposes as an educational charity.  If specific charitable aims or specific departments within the University are desired then the following alternatives may be considered:-

     [To support students]

“It is my wish that it shall be applied for its general purposes as an educational charity [AND I request that the funds be used for the financial support of students as deemed appropriate by the Registrar and Clerk or other proper officer at that time.]  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice- Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors.”

    [To a specific faculty/school/department]

“It is my wish that the gift be used within the [faculty/school or department] in such a way as the University Registrar and Clerk or other proper officer at that time shall deem appropriate.  In the event that the said [faculty/school/department] shall cease to exist or amalgamate with another faculty, department, school or college or changes its name before my death then I request that the University apply the said gift to such other faculty, department or school within the University as the Registrar and Clerk or other proper officer shall in his or her absolute discretion think fit.  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice- Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors.”

If it is intended to benefit a particular location, for example Lampeter or Carmarthen Campus, then the suggested wording for a specific faculty/school/department should be used but amended accordingly.

    Possible example:-

“I give the sum of £10,000 to the Lampeter Alumni Office, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, College Street, Lampeter, Ceredigion, SA48 7ED (registered Charity Number 1149535).

It is my wish that the gift be used within the Faculty of Humanities at Lampeter in such a way as the University Registrar and Clerk or other proper officer at that time shall deem appropriate.  In the event that the said Faculty of Humanities at Lampeter shall cease to exist or amalgamate with another faculty, department, school or college or changes its name before my death then I request that the University apply the said gift to such other faculty or school within the University as the Registrar and Clerk or other proper officer shall in his or her absolute discretion think fit.  On realisation of the bequest, a receipt from the Vice- Chancellor or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge for my executors.”

    Disclaimer

The above suggested clauses are examples of clauses which may be used in a Will in order to make gifts to the University and may not be appropriate in every circumstance.  Therefore, these clauses should not be relied upon without first seeking specialist legal advice, particularly as to the implications of Inheritance Tax.  The University will not be responsible to any person who uses the above example clauses without taking their own legal advice.
