Chloe’s D&AD New Blood success earns global recognition
Second-year University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) Swansea College of Art Illustration student Chloe Duggan has received international recognition after winning a coveted Graphite Pencil at the prestigious D&AD New Blood Awards, held at Protein Studios in Shoreditch, London.
Chloe received the award for her animation created for the Secret 7” War Child brief. The Graphite Pencil was the highest accolade awarded in the category, placing her among the world’s leading emerging creative talent. Winners in this year’s international student competition came from across the globe, including the United States, Spain and China.
Chloe said: “It’s had such an impact on me. I’m really believing in myself now, and I’m so motivated to go on and win a White Pencil in the future and use my creativity for good.”
She added: “It was emotional and surreal just being in the room with all of the talent that was there. I felt so proud to be standing alongside them, as the work that was celebrated was incredible.”
Martin Bush, Illustration Programme Manager at Swansea College of Art, said: “It’s clearly evident that our students have the craft and conceptual skills to attract international attention at the highest level. Winning a D&AD New Blood Pencil is a significant achievement for any creative student, as it is recognised as one of the highest accolades in the creative industries. Chloe’s win is exceptional.”
Before the new academic year begins, Chloe will travel to Fiji as part of the UWTSD Go Global International Programme, where she will volunteer overseas. Following her international award success, the experience marks another exciting step in what promises to be a bright creative future on the global stage.
