Future You: Full steam ahead for cruise careers
University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is bringing the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Future You conference and careers fair to Swansea and Wales for the first time, with the plan to make it an annual event.
Hosted by UWTSD and supported by ABTA, Institute of Hospitality Cymru and the wider industry, the Future You: Make a Splash in Swansea conference is open to schools, colleges, university students and alumni. Anyone working in the industry or those interested in travel, tourism, events, hospitality or leisure are also welcome.
It will be a fast-paced, interactive event with a range of speakers and video links from across the globe including successful UWTSD alumni, and will provide the opportunity for attendees to network and meet with industry experts.
The event is being organised by a small team of UWTSD International Travel and Tourism and Events Management students in collaboration with ITT and industry support. There will be a strong focus on Cruise Tourism as two of the students, Amanda and Amy, are ABTA Ambassadors mentored by Royal Caribbean International. Another, Josh, completed a placement with Celebrity Cruises travelling around the Mediterranean, UK and Scandinavia and is the Chair of Institute of Hospitality Cymru Student Committee. A further student, Mel, will be managing the industry collaborations and running social media on the day.
Future You: Make A Splash in Swansea is about celebrating successes and opportunities within the industry, and the development of outstanding transferable skills so that students can pursue varied careers across many different sectors. UWTSD invites people from across disciplines including Events, Hospitality, Catering, Leisure, Sport and Business, as well as Travel & Tourism to attend.

It’s an incredible opportunity for our Tourism and Events students to work with a range of organisations planning this unique event.
“The students have designed an exciting, interactive day celebrating post-covid Travel and Tourism opportunities and are looking forward to welcoming schools, colleges, and industry to be part of the experience. With speakers, video links and networking, the event will promote the wide range of career opportunities available across Travel, Tourism, Events and Hospitality Business in Wales and around the world.”
