Introduction

As a BA Film & TV student you will have access to Adobe Suites equipped with Macs and the Creative Cloud including Adobe Premiere and After Effects. We are based in the Dylan Thomas Centre – a beautiful building which houses a cinema sized screen and theatre for student’s use. The perfect location to get creative.

With location partners in and around Swansea we frequently shoot on location in venues such as Plantasia Tropical Zoo, The Grand Theatre, Swansea Museum, Mumbles Pier, Dylan Thomas’ Birthplace and Brangwyn Hall to give students hands-on experience of working on location to tell stories.

At Swansea College of Art, Film & TV students have access to a range of specialist workshops and spaces, supported by expert staff within a close creative community.

Dylan Thomas Centre Theatre

We are privileged to have access to the Dylan Thomas Theatre space, a large cinema screen space complete with traditional cinema seating. We use this space to screen films and host weekly Film Club events. Students are able to hie this space to conduct events and screen their own productions.

Tech Stores

Students are able to hire out a range of kit from our technical store room which is managed by our expert technicians who are on hand to assist you in using the equipment or advising on the best kit for your creative endeavours. Film and TV Studio

TV Studio

Our TV studio environment supports collaborative learning and independent practice. You’ll develop technical skills and expertise of how to use a large studio space.

Classroom

Our large classroom space comes with blackout blinds, perfect for screening or creating films using different lighting setups and techniques. 

Mac Lab

Our Mac suites are equipped with Apple computers and professional software (Adobe Creative Cloud), with both teaching and open-access spaces. You’ll have flexibility to work independently, supported by technical staff when needed.

  • A range of small form factor Cine Cameras used for documentary filming and Hollywood movies (Blackmagic and Sony)  

  • A range of DSLRs  

  • A plethora of Different lenses, from 1940s vintage lenses to brand new Hollywood grade anamorphic lenses  

  • 5 sets of Professional Grade Sound recording equipment  

  • Green Screen Set up  

  • Lights for both stage and screen, ranging from classic tungsten all the way up to high end LEDs  

  • A variety of motion equipment from dollys, gimbals and sliders  

  • TV / Live Streaming set ups
