Background
Angharad Lee is a an award-winning theatre, opera and film director since.Her work is described as urgent, visceral and inventive, with a strong commitment to developing musical theatre in Wales She won Director of the Year at the British Theatre Guide Awards in 2018, and her production of The Last 5 Years was listed by The Stage as one of the UK’s top regional productions. She directed the first ever Welsh-language opera for Welsh National Opera, Gair ar Gnawd, nominated for a Royal Philharmonic Award. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Angharad is a fluent Welsh speaker and Artistic Director of Leeway Productions. She has 2 short film credits under her belt with BBC and S4C, and has directed the Opening Ceremony of The National Eisteddfod 3 times. Her practice is diversity-confident, and won a Creative Wales Award to support the development of inclusive theatre practice in Wales. She’s passionate in ensuring opportunities for all.

Professional and/or Research Experience
As Artistic Director of Leeway Productions, Angharad leads the creation of innovative musical theatre and development programmes that place community voices and under-represented artists at their centre. She has directed critically acclaimed productions, including accessible and integrated performances that foreground Deaf and disabled audiences. She has numerous acting credits with S4C and trained as an actress at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. This background grounds her approach when working with young performers. She specialises in acting through song and is passionate about actively engaging students in their own career path and empowering them to forge that path for themselves. She received an award from Arts Council Wales to research and develop theatrical approaches to inclusive practice and equitable approaches to casting and developing theatre.
