Financial support to help you succeed at UWTSD
We understand that the cost of studying can be different for every student. You may need help with essential course materials, travel to university or a placement, access to technology, or the costs associated with taking up an internship or employability opportunity. You may also experience unexpected financial pressures during your studies.
Our Student Support Bursary Framework brings together a range of targeted bursaries and financial support designed to help eligible students overcome financial barriers, meet essential study costs and make the most of opportunities during their time at UWTSD.
Support for different circumstances
Every student’s circumstances are different, and some students may experience additional costs or barriers to study.
We particularly welcome applications from students who may experience additional barriers, including disabled students and students with additional learning needs, care-experienced students, estranged students, young adult carers, and student parents.
Financial challenges can affect anyone, however, and we welcome applications from all students who believe they may meet the eligibility criteria for support.
What support is available?
UWTSD offers a range of bursaries, awards and financial support to help eligible students with additional costs, financial pressures and barriers they may experience during their studies.
Access Bursaries
UWTSD Cares Bursary
Support of up to £1,000 for eligible care-experienced students, estranged students and young adult carers.
Disability Bursary
Support towards eligible disability-related costs, including diagnostic assessment and contributions towards eligible Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) equipment.
Financial Support Bursaries
Employability Bursary
Support towards eligible professional development, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or professional supervision.
Course Resources Bursary
Help towards eligible compulsory course materials, equipment and other essential course costs.
Student Financial Support Fund
Financial support for students experiencing significant or unexpected financial hardship during their studies.
Could you be eligible?
Our bursaries aren’t awarded automatically. You’ll need to apply for the support that’s relevant to you and demonstrate that you meet the eligibility criteria.
To be considered for a UWTSD bursary, you must:
- be enrolled at UWTSD in the current academic year
- be studying at least 40 academic credits in the year of application; and
- have your tuition fees paid directly to UWTSD
Each bursary has its own eligibility criteria, and some are available only to particular groups of students or at particular stages of study.

Applications for UWTSD bursaries and financial support are made through the Hwb App.
