Sport is a big part of the culture of Wales and going to see an event or match is an essential part of studying at UWTSD. Check out the several venues below which you can visit whenever you wish to.
Swansea
Swansea.com Stadium
The Swansea.com Stadium opened in 2005 to provide a home to Swansea City and Ospreys Rugby while giving Swansea a facility to be proud of.
Swansea Bay Sports Park
Facilities at Swansea Bay Sports Park range from the 50m Wales National Pool Swansea, an outdoor athletics track, multi-use pitches, gym, hockey pitches and much more.
St. Helen’s Rugby & Cricket Ground
St. Helen’s Rugby and Cricket Ground is a sports venue in Swansea, home of Swansea Rugby Football Club, Swansea Cricket Club and Glamorgan Cricket.
Parc y Scarlets
Home of Scarlets Rugby and a fantastic venue for all manner of conferences, occasions and celebrations.
Machynys Golf Course, Llanelli
Machynys, which translates to ‘Monks Island’, is a Nicklaus-designed 7121-yard modern links championship golf course opening in 2005, which has already hosted an unprecedented 14 Championships.

Cardiff
Principality Stadium
Sporting the first fully retractable roof in the UK, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff is at the leading edge as a multi-purpose, multi-faceted event venue, home of the Welsh Rugby Union.
Sophia Gardens
Sophia Gardens is a 16,000-seater stadium in Cardiff, home of Glamorgan Cricket and an established venue for international cricket.
Cardiff City Stadium
The Cardiff City Stadium is the home of Cardiff City Football Club and the Wales national football team.
Cardiff Arms Park
Cardiff Arms Park is the home of Cardiff Rugby and Cardiff RFC situated next to the Principality Stadium in the heart of the Welsh capital.
International Sports Village
Bordering the freshwater lake created by Cardiff Bay Barrage, the Sports Village already boasts two Olympic standard sporting facilities, Cardiff International White Water and Cardiff International Pool. Alongside these, you will find the Viola Arena - which is both a public skating rink and home of the Cardiff Devils Elite League ice hockey team.

Carmarthen
Ffos Las Racecourse
Ffos Las Racecourse has brought top-class racing to Wales since it opened in 2009. Settled in between Llanelli and Carmarthen, Ffos Las hosts 23 racing fixtures across the year, as well as being available for hire for conferences and events.
Richmond Park, Carmarthen
Richmond Park is a Welsh Premier League stadium in Carmarthen. Situated on Priory Street, it is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of Carmarthen Town AFC.
Carmarthen Park
Opened in 1900, Carmarthen Park boasts Wales’s first velodrome (cycle track) and one of the few early velodromes to survive in working condition. Complete with its original grandstand, bandstand, lodge, entrance gates, and railings, Carmarthen Park has been used for a wide range of sports, eisteddfodau, entertainment, circuses, and concerts.
Cynefin
The UWTSD Centre for Outdoor Adventure Education Cynefin sits on a magnificent green site on the outskirts of Carmarthen, just 20 minutes’ walk from campus. The site is sheltered and secluded with a diverse range of natural habitats and access to waterways and footpaths. The centre’s location is perfect for learning about outdoor adventure education.
