Background

Cindy Hunt is a dedicated Lecturer and Programme Manager in the Inclusive Education Programme at UWTSD, with extensive experience in education, youth work, and learner support. Her career began with 10 years as a Learning Support Assistant, gaining insight into the challenges faced by learners with additional needs. She then spent 16 years in youth work, supporting young people aged 11–25 in diverse learning environments. Cindy’s approach is grounded in inclusion, equity, and learner voice, blending practical experience with empathy to foster reflective and socially just educational practices. She is passionate about empowering non-traditional students, especially in school settings, and values the contributions of Teaching Assistants and LSAs. As Programme Manager, she ensures consistent, inclusive, and equitable provision across campuses and communities, striving to create accessible learning experiences for all.

She evaluates the impact of inclusive assessment practices on student outcomes, aiming to enhance engagement, achievement, and equity. Her research also investigates support strategies for students with disabilities, exploring effective approaches that foster participation and success through these efforts. Supporting non-traditional students to develop skills within their school-based roles who are dedicated to helping children and young people thrive in their educational settings.
