Background

Julie has over 20 years experience of working in HR roles and 9 years experience of teaching in higher education.

Julie obtained her BA (Hons) from Durham University and her MA and teaching qualifications from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD). She has worked in both private and public sector organisations including Marks and Spencer, Cardiff Council and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.

Julie is currently undertaking the Doctorate in Professional Practice at UWTSD. Her research interest is in the impact of leadership and management on employee wellbeing.

Julie’s extensive industry experience and research interests help inform her teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio, where shaping the managers and leaders of the future is at the heart of what we do.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Julie is currently a senior lecturer, overseeing the CIPD programmes at the University. She also lectures on the BA in Developing Leadership and Management as well as the BA in Business Management. Julie is currently in the latter stages of her Doctorate in Professional Practice. Whilst her current research is focussed on employee wellbeing, her previous research centred on the retention of social workers in local authorities.
