Background

Kerry is a Chartered Engineer and with over 15 years of experience across higher education and industry, currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in Automotive and Motorsport Engineering at UWTSD. Her career began with an Engineering Doctorate in partnership with Tata Steel, where she focused on the life cycle assessment of advanced high-strength steels for automotive applications, work that combined sustainability, materials innovation, and industry collaboration. 

Her key interests lie in sustainable and ethical materials, engineering education, and supporting undergraduates in bridging the gap between university and industry. Kerry aims to develop the next generation of engineers who are technically skilled, sustainability-conscious, and career-ready. She also coordinates professional development activities that connect students with leading industry voices in motorsport and automotive sectors.

Professional and/or Research Experience

She was awarded Chartered Engineer (CEng) status in 2015 by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), underlining her dual commitment to technical excellence and educational quality.

Kerry completed an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) focused on Life Cycle Assessment of Advanced High Strength Steels and Automotive Components, while working as a Research Engineer at Tata Steel Strip UK, Port Talbot. Gaining interdisciplinary experience combining materials research, environmental sustainability, and automotive engineering.
