Marie Pitson

Background
Prior to joining the University, Marie Pitson spent two decades working in accounting and management roles across both the private and public sectors. For the first ten years of her career, she managed an accounts department in an engineering company. She then went on to develop the accounting department within a third sector organisation, where she was also responsible for training volunteers for a variety of roles within the department.

Marie Pitson is Programme Manager for the MBA Swansea and the MA Leadership programme in Swansea and Cardiff at Swansea Business School.
Her pedagogical research interests focus on the role of feedback in supporting learner progression, with particular emphasis on mathematics and accounting-based modules. This is closely connected to her Master’s thesis, which explored Assessment for Learning and the development of thinking within Higher Education programmes.
In her role at the University, she is also involved in developing and incorporating a range of teaching strategies to enhance the student experience. Her main interests include the role and benefits of placements in improving graduate employment opportunities, as well as the impact of feedback in facilitating learner progression.
