Phil Organ
Background
Phil has worked in the industry as an animator on tv series and feature film work productions, in-house and freelance, including a commission to make his own animated film (screened on UK television). Other educationally-orientated work has involved writing a lot of new awards and degrees, developing his own animation workshop(s), and working as External Examiner with other institutions.
As Senior Lecturer he has held numerous course leader positions, at HND, BA and MA level, delivering animation methods and techniques to UK and international classes. Modules covered will involve principles of animation, classical and MAYA animation methods, conceptual and narrative design, filmmaking and film theories, etc.
He enjoys the art and crafting of character design and motion, storytelling and animation skills > all via the use of 2D drawn animation, cintiq-based work, 3D software, sculpting and (miniature) model-making, etc.

Professional and/or Research Experience
Other courses have helped him develop more on pre-production (e.g. via Inside Edge's Feature Film Super System). Practical software experience has included training upon Escape Studios' Maya Character Animation Course, HPC, Skillset Screen Academy, etc.
As a Senior Lecturer / educator (for over twenty years) he has experience from attending a long list of initiatives and academic events and is happiest in any opportunity to extend his animation knowledge ~ from Masterclasses with PIXAR ( on Story-Character-Animation ), Richard Williams (Animator's Survival Kit), Ed Hooks, Phil Tippett and many many more.

- FAD Foundation in Art & Design - sculpture work exhibited nationally
- BA (Hons) in Animation - graduate films screened at the ICA, London. Dissertation – “As if by magic; A study of children’s animation from 1955-1985”

Professional Publications
- Phil’s writings have featured in a number of journals including 3D World Magazine, Digital Creative Arts Magazine and for (Cardiff-based) Welsh Animation Group. He has been invited to talk on radio and on stage, most notably for Go Wales at the Grande Theatre and at the University's own SAND Conference events.
- Consultancy work has seen the development of a FdA in 3D Computer Animation with a consortium of educational institutions that included Gower College Swansea. Phil has also been asked to contribute original writing and responses to a number of educational bodies and has also held appointments, both as an External Validator (Kent) and Examiner (Essex, Cumbria, Southampton and Plymouth)
- As Programme Director / Manager he has written original content for a large selection of modules and degrees and his written work have also seen international re-deployment (at institutions in China, etc.). He devised and validated the First Year of the Four Year Programme for his School. In the same year he successfully validated the BA animation degree (and has held this Programme Manager role on three separate occasions). He has devised a new CERT HE in 3D Computer Animation and wrote a new degree document for a BSc in Motion Capture.
