Senior Lecturer in Construction Management
Background
Over 20 years construction experience starting with a trade background as a Carpenter, studied a BSc in Construction Management and Technology and progressed to Site Manager responsible for the effective management and delivery of a variety of private and local authority construction projects. Experience of modern and traditionally built residential and commercial properties as well as non-standard construction.
Extensive teaching experience delivering level 1 to 6 construction programmes ranging from apprenticeships to GCSE, AS/A Level and Higher Education HNC, HND and BSc. Completed an MSc in Sustainable Construction in 2024. I continue to be involved in retrofit and upgrade of private housing.
Specialist Subjects
- Particular interest and experience in the organisation and management of non-standard construction projects.
- Planning retrofit works in hospital behavioural units - private care homes - primary and secondary schools, and the complexities of safely facilitating extensive construction work while protecting vulnerable adults and children.
Professional and/or Research Experience
Carried out research into various funding schemes across the UK for retrofit programmes improving the sustainability and performance of existing housing stock. Of particular interest was the barriers to the uptake of these programmes and how they can be overcome.
