Background

Scott is a lecturer with a strong academic background and extensive industry experience across tourism, hospitality, transport, and the software sector.

Scott holds a degree in Tourism Management, a PGCE (PCET), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), combining subject expertise with pedagogical and strategic business knowledge. Prior to entering higher education, Scott worked in hospitality roles within restaurants and hotels, the ferry industry on UK–mainland Europe routes, and the software sector, where he built and maintained strong stakeholder relationships.

Drawing on this diverse professional background, Scott brings a practical, real-world perspective to teaching, helping students link theory to practice and develop key employability skills. He is committed to inclusive, engaging teaching and supporting students in achieving their academic and professional goals.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Scott has professional experience across hospitality, transport, tourism, and the software sector, which informs his higher education teaching. Prior to academia, he worked in restaurants and hotels, developing expertise in service management and customer experience, and in the ferry industry on UK–mainland Europe routes, gaining insight into international operations and regulatory environments. In the software sector, he managed stakeholder relationships and supported business communication and engagement.

Within higher education, Scott teaches across business and tourism programmes, delivering modules in academic and digital skills, enterprise, innovation, research methods, and professional development. His professional interests include employability, digital capability, enterprise education, and practice-based learning, with experience supervising independent projects and supporting students to apply theory to real-world contexts.
