Background

Suresh Shanmugasundaram is an experienced academic with more than 25 years in higher education, specialising in computing. He has held teaching and leadership roles in both UK and international institutions, contributing to curriculum development, quality assurance and academic governance. His teaching portfolio includes a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in computer science, with an emphasis on student-centred learning.

Suresh holds a PhD in Information and Communication Engineering, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has mentored numerous students through projects and dissertations. He is also actively involved in research, with interests in cybersecurity, cloud computing, IoT and e-learning technologies.

He has contributed to academic development through roles in assessment design, programme validation and professional development activities. He is open to engaging as a PhD examiner, expert speaker, or advisory member in academic events and conferences.

Before his academic career in the UK, he held senior academic and administrative positions in engineering and technology institutions abroad, where he was involved in programme design, accreditation and staff development.

At UWTSD, Suresh has taught and led modules across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in computing. He has supervised numerous student research projects to completion. His teaching approach centres on inclusive curriculum design, skills-based assessment and digital pedagogy. He has contributed to applied research initiatives focusing on technological solutions for education. He is actively engaged in academic development activities, including conference presentations.
