Background

Dr. Yueyao Hu received her PhD in Media and Communication from Swansea University, where her doctoral research concentrated on the field of digital media. She also holds two Master’s degrees in Visual Communication, one with a theoretical emphasis and the other with a practice-based focus, which together underpin her interdisciplinary academic background and research expertise.

Yueyao joined the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in 2022 and has since contributed to teaching and supervising across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She has extensive experience in working with international students, particularly in supporting their academic development and research practice. Her teaching draws upon both theoretical frameworks and creative practice, enabling students to engage critically and innovatively with their disciplines.

She explores how identity evolves over time and shapes our interactions with others and the world around us. Her work investigates the boundaries of knowledge within these domains, shedding light on the complexities of identity, relationships, and the nuances of everyday life.

At UWTSD, Yueyao primarily teaches postgraduate programmes, delivering modules such as Qualitative Research Methods within the Creative Industries, Approaches to Art & Design Research, Creative Communication Design, and Major Design Project. Her interdisciplinary background in visual communication, UX research, and media studies enables her to teach across diverse fields, fostering collaboration among students from varied disciplines.
