You’ll gain a solid understanding of how the events industry is structured, with a particular focus on hospitality and guest services, essential for creating memorable experiences in events of all kinds.
The program is highly practical, offering you opportunities to plan and manage live events, visit behind-the-scenes operations, and participate in paid placements and volunteer opportunities to gain direct industry experience.
You’ll explore the role of marketing and social media in promoting events, learning how to connect with audiences and boost engagement for successful events.
Throughout the course, you’ll have opportunities to engage with industry leaders and graduates in virtual meetups, participate in digital or live industry visits, and take on projects that provide practical experience. Additionally, U.K. and international learning experiences will broaden your understanding of global event management, and you may pursue industry-based qualifications like ABTA and Travel Trade certificates or WSET Wine Training (additional fees may apply).
As a DipHE student, you’ll also be part of the Institute of Hospitality, and have access to the Institute of Travel and Tourism, enhancing your connections and knowledge in the field.
In the first year, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of Event Management, with an emphasis on hospitality, tourism, and understanding the economic effects of events on local economies. You’ll build foundational skills in event operations, marketing, and project management, providing a solid base for further study.

GCSE grade A*-C (grade 9-4 in England) in English and Mathematics is also required.
Alternative entry routes
Once you have successfully completed your DipHE studies, you will be eligible to progress for the remaining year of the bachelor’s degree.
These are ideal routes if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied this subject, or if you did not achieve the grades you need for a place on this degree.

English language requirements
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.

If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.
For courses of more than six months’ duration you will require a Student visa.
International students who require a Student visa should apply for our full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship.

The programme will be assessed through a structured mix of practical assessments, events, placements, case studies, audits, training exercises, management reports, presentations, essays, event reviews, DVD/videos, vlogs/ blogs, feasibility studies, projects, bid pitches and the opportunity to plan, organise and assess event tours and experiences.
Assessments will wherever possible be designed to develop professional skills as well as developing critical thinking, leadership, events management, guest service and teamwork in preparation for careers in the events . There will be NO examinations on this course.

Some modules in this course are available to study through the medium of Welsh either fully or partially. In all cases students will be able to submit written assessments through the medium of Welsh.

Our students have access to a diverse range of equipment and resources, which in most cases are sufficient to complete their programme of study. We provide the basic materials necessary for students to undertake their modules.
However, hospitality, leisure and tourism students will likely incur some additional costs associated with field trips. Year to year these costs vary from £25 at level 4, to £500 at level 5 and up to £1,000 at level 6 however these are all subsidised.
