Gavin Traylor
Background
Gavin is a chartered architect with over 20 years’ experience within the construction industry and is the Past President of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales RSAW.
He is a Lecturer in Architecture & Construction at UWTSD within the School of Architecture, Construction and Environment in Swansea.
Prior to joining UWTSD in April 2019, Gavin adopted the role as Projects Design & Development’s Operational Manager within Cardiff Council and led the multi-discipline team of consultants that provided the ‘in house’ design and construction management services for the authority. In his time at Cardiff Council Gavin worked on variety of projects across the Council’s portfolio. He managed design teams on projects of a variety of scales and complexities; in sectors that include education, leisure, commercial, residential and conservation.

Professional and/or Research Experience
Gavin is an advocate of greater cohesion between academia and professional practice and as such has previously taken part in the RSAW mentoring scheme and has also been a visiting critic for Birmingham School of Architecture at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is also engaged with several Welsh Government professional groups including Digital Skills and Building Safety.
