Background

Jonathan Pugh arrived on Carmarthen campus after several years of touring theatre around Wales and working with several of the nation’s exceptional site-specific and contemporary performers. Through their influence and Jonathan’s passion, he continues to work with body and media on the boundaries of narrative styles and performance today.  

Jonathan engage in physical training and performance to develop ways to share the narratives that sometimes escape words and celebrate the social impact of the arts to tell and retell stories that influence the way we live in our communities.  

Across his practical and academic teaching, he uses creative pedagogies to inspire deep educational experiences that facilitate connection to valuable lived experiences for lifelong creative growth.  

He is an independent member of the Arts Council of Wales, a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE and an Assistant Academic Director in the Design and Performing Industries.

Professional and/or Research Experience

Jonathan has been teaching creative and performing arts and media since the turn of the century.

He contributes to the Global Active Learning Network who have published in the Times Higher.

He recently performed in the Cragen Beca project - a multi-disciplinary re-imagination of Carmarthenshire's famous uprising - inspired by Merched Beca - through the lens of contemporary protest by artist Catherine Campbell-Dodd.
