Background

Previously to lecturing at UWTSD, Kate was a secondary school PE teacher in Swansea. She was responsible for PE classes (years 7-13), GCSE and A level  courses as well as a key teacher within a behavioural unit within the school. 

Kate took a secondment with PLPS while completing her Masters where she was responsible for supporting teachers in cluster primary schools to improve their physical education provision. Kate is now Programme Manager of the BSc Sport, Health and Physical Education. She focuses on Health and Wellbeing, Research Methods and Contemporary Challenges for Children and young people. 

Kate’s most recent research has been exploring children’s and families health and wellbeing when accessing accessible water sports clubs.  

Kate’s PhD explored the physical activity and health behaviours of communities and is interested in sense of belonging that physical activity can bring.
