Lisa-Marie Bassler
Background
Lisa brings several years of practical industry experience to the Hospitality & Tourism Management (HATM) team, having held various roles in hospitality and retail across Wales and Germany. Her hands-on background, combined with supervising student placements, has helped her develop a broad and diverse network of industry contacts.
She earned both a BA and an MBA in International Hotel Management from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. During her studies, she developed a keen interest in experiential learning through hospitality placements, which continues to influence her research and teaching. She later joined the University’s teaching team and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education.
Her industry experience and research interests directly inform her teaching across the undergraduate HATM programmes, ensuring the curriculum remains academically rigorous and relevant to the dynamic hospitality and tourism sectors.

Professional and/or Research Experience
At UWTSD, Lisa works across a variety of HATM programmes as a lecturer and placement tutor. She also serves as the Academic Misconduct Coordinator for the HATM discipline, promoting and upholding academic integrity while supporting students in ethical academic practices.
