Introduction
Chinese Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional festival in China and is celebrated by communities around the world.
It marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is a time for family reunions, giving thanks for the year just gone, and wishing for good luck, health and happiness in the year ahead.
2026 is the Year of the Horse. During this year, people celebrate qualities traditionally associated with the horse, such as energy, determination, confidence and a love of freedom.
Spring Festival celebrations often include colourful decorations, dragon and lion dances, festive food, red envelopes for children, and fireworks, all of which symbolise good fortune and new beginnings.
