Ellie's BA in Surface Pattern and Textiles Experience
What was your favourite thing about the Swansea campus?
I love how much my campus has to offer. The studio spaces are great to work in, the Apple Mac suites are a huge bonus, and the lectures are genuinely enjoyable and engaging. There’s always something to do, whether I’m working on projects, learning new skills, or just exploring different creative opportunities. It’s a space that feels inspiring rather than restrictive, and it makes studying feel exciting instead of repetitive.
Why did you choose UWTSD?
I chose UWTSD because of its strong, industry-focused approach to learning, particularly through live briefs. Taking part in a skills competition played a big role in my decision, as it gave me the chance to experience the studio environment, desk space, and facilities first-hand, which really stood out to me. The course offers clear career progression, valuable opportunities to build experience, and trips abroad that broaden creative and professional perspectives.
What did you enjoy outside your studies?
Outside of my studies, I enjoy doing art and design for fun and creative expression. I also have a job that I really enjoy, which keeps me busy and motivated.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I haven’t fully planned my path after university, but my end goal is to work in the fashion and textiles industry. I plan to take up a role that allows me to travel and live in places like France or Italy, combining my passion for design with new cultural experiences and places I love.
What was your favourite thing about your course?
What I love about the course is how it lets me develop a wide range of practical, hands-on skills while also guiding me to create a professional portfolio. I also love the variety of design projects I can explore, which keeps learning exciting and allows me to experiment with different styles and techniques.
Would you recommend UWTSD and why?
Yes, I would definitely recommend my uni. It’s been a really positive experience so far, and I’m excited for everything still to come.
