Mark's UWTSD Experience
Mark's BSc Architecture Experience
What is your favourite thing about Swansea campus?
It’s proximity to the city centre and waterfront, all being within walking distance to the campus, making it ideal for socialising and relaxing after a long day of studying in the Library or Studio.
Why did you choose UWTSD?
I had UWTSD shortlisted as one of my options and having known friends locally that spoke positively of the area, I reached out to UWTSD and transferred onto the course. The method of teaching and people on the course made it a fantastic experience.
What do you enjoy outside of your studies?
Outside of the highly demanding workload required of this course, which was still somehow fun, I managed to spare time for doing the things I liked with the amazing people on my course. These included walks, eating out, watching movies and attending gigs.
What do you hope to do when you graduate ?
In the short term, my plan is to relax, save up and go travelling. After this well-deserved break, I wish to pursue my career by gaining skills through working for a practice and hopefully lead this onto a Part 2 qualification.
What is your favourite thing about your course?
The cooperation and support from lecturers and peers on the course. Having transferred from a different university, this was a welcome change that I had not yet experienced. The combination of friendly competition and support from my peers made for an environment that encouraged me to do my best, while also learning new skills from everyone. I could not have asked for a better group of people to spend my time with while studying at UWTSD.
Would you recommend UWTSD and why?
The lecturers are passionate about the course, and unlike my previous experiences, they go above and beyond with preparing students with life skills that matter, not just limiting learning to design skills, but also the technical and business side of things. Communication is key, and this course had plenty of it, with lecturers always being happy to assist even on days outside of studio.
