The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is celebrating the achievement of International Travel and Tourism student Angelika Jasnos, who was honoured as a Commonwealth Young Leader during a banquet at Windsor Castle.

The celebration took place as part of the three-day Commonwealth Leadership Institute (CLI) Educational Summit, which brought together young leaders from across the Commonwealth for discussions, workshops and collaborative sessions focused on global challenges and opportunities.

Angelika attended the banquet alongside UWTSD MBA alumna Shivani Khanna and fellow Young Leaders in recognition of their contributions. During their time at Windsor Castle, delegates were also received by His Majesty The King, a moment that highlighted the importance of their work on the international stage.

For UWTSD, Angelika’s recognition reflects both her personal commitment and the University’s focus on supporting students who strive to make a positive difference globally.

Earlier in the week, Angelika organised and delivered the Beyond Borders Leadership Event at UWTSD’s Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea, welcoming Commonwealth Young Leaders to Wales and creating a space for open conversation and shared learning.

The Swansea event was supported by a dedicated Student Events Team, made up of UWTSD Tourism, Events and Gastronomy students, along with academic staff from across the discipline. Their teamwork highlighted the University’s emphasis on hands-on learning and collaboration.

Angelika also stepped onto the stage as a keynote speaker during the Beyond Borders event, sharing her personal journey and the challenges she has faced. Her honest and inspiring talk resonated strongly with attendees and reflected the values of resilience and global citizenship that UWTSD promotes.

Angelika’s involvement with the Commonwealth Leadership Institute is closely linked to her final year independent project, connecting academic research with real‑world experience. The opportunity has been meaningful both academically and personally, reinforcing the University’s commitment to providing transformative experiences beyond the classroom.

Professor Gareth Davies, Dean of the University’s Institute of Management and Health said: “Angelika’s achievement is something we’re all incredibly proud of. Being recognised as a Commonwealth Young Leader is a wonderful reflection of her hard work, her compassion, and her drive to make a positive impact. It’s also a reminder of what our students can achieve when they’re supported to explore their ideas and step into new opportunities. We’re delighted to see Angelika representing UWTSD on an international stage and inspiring others along the way.”
