UWTSD graduate celebrates distinction in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics

A student from Dhaka, Bangladesh, who made the move to the UK to pursue a career in cybersecurity is celebrating graduating with distinction from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) today.

Originally from Dhaka and now living in Dagenham, 28-year-old Ali Azman has completed an MSc in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, building on a previous background in Computer Science and Engineering and experience as a web developer. 

After researching universities across the UK, Ali chose UWTSD because of its reputation for student satisfaction and its practical, hands-on approach to learning. 

“I was looking for a university that offered excellent practical facilities and a supportive student experience,” said Ali. “UWTSD stood out because of its reputation for student care and its advanced cybersecurity labs, which made it the ideal place to develop specialist skills.” 

The master’s degree enabled Ali to transition from software and web development into the specialist fields of cybersecurity and digital forensics. 

“My goal was to move beyond building applications and gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to defend digital infrastructure, investigate cyber threats and develop expertise in digital forensics,” Ali explained. 

One of the biggest highlights of the course was the support provided by academic staff. 

“The lecturers were incredibly approachable and always willing to help. Coming from a web development background, the transition into advanced cybersecurity and forensics was challenging, but their guidance and encouragement made all the difference.” 

During the course, Ali also developed advanced research skills, moving from development-focused projects to undertaking specialist technical research in digital forensics. 

Although adapting to the complexity of cybersecurity presented an initial challenge, dedication, long hours in the specialist labs and ongoing support from lecturers helped Ali overcome every obstacle and ultimately graduate with distinction. 

Ali said: “Graduating with distinction has given me tremendous confidence. Professionally, it has opened up new opportunities by combining my web development experience with specialist cybersecurity and digital forensics expertise.

Following graduation, Ali plans to pursue a career in cybersecurity and digital forensics, combining their software development experience with their new security and research skills to help organisations protect themselves against evolving cyber threats.
