UWTSD hosts MA Education (Wales) Annual Research and Writing Workshop
Around sixty students and staff from seven universities across Wales were recently welcomed to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Lampeter campus for the Annual Research and Writing Workshop of the collaborative MA Education (Wales) programme.

The workshop aimed to support students in their final year as they completed their dissertations, through a series of inspirational presentations and practical workshops.
The weekend began with a message from Dr Kevin Palmer, Deputy Director of Pedagogy, Leadership and Professional Learning at the Welsh Government, which highlighted the key role of quality professional learning in education in Wales.
Anna Brychan, Assistant Dean of Yr Athrofa, introduced Mrs Rhonwen Morris, Headteacher of Ysgol Bro Preseli, to open the conference with a heartwarming message about the importance of ensuring that all learners experience success.
During the day, alumni of the program shared their experiences of how their research influenced their professional practice, not only in their own institutions but also on a broader level.
Professor Andy Townsend from Swansea University delivered a valuable session on academic writing, offering practical and useful advice to the students. There was an opportunity to discuss and share research with others, peers from other universities and expert tutors from each of the seven institutions.
Over the two days there were various networking opportunities, and the event was described by one of the students as:
“A great opportunity to meet peers, discuss research, ask questions, seek help, and receive expert advice and information! This is the highlight of the MA for me and it has inspired me to complete my dissertation!”
Nanna Ryder, one of the workshop organisers and programme director of the MA Education (Wales) at UWTSD, said,
“It was a privilege to host this workshop this year and experience the enthusiasm of the students, guest speakers and tutors for conducting active research in educational institutions in order to transform practice and improve the learning experiences of our learners across Wales.”
